Only for survival
Living in the cage
Can’t see the horizon
Fills her up with rage
Let them see what you can do
Check the boxes, get it done
So hard to pretend she cares
She only wants to run
How did it get this way
She always asks herself
Thought there’d be time later
To climb down off that shelf
Keep those plates a-spinning
Never let them stop
Like a hamster on the wheel
Until you think you’ll drop
Doesn’t see the way back out
But one there’s got to be
Cannot live her life this way
The spirit must be free
So hope she has within her heart
And steps she’s got to take
Some of them will be quite hard
And there’s no way to fake
Giving up is not her way
So persevere she will
Small steps and large to reach that
dream
Until her life’s fulfilled
